Comedians launch comedy gala at Hull

Hull-born funny girl Lucy Beaumont and Cats Does Countdown’s Jon Richardson have launched a special comedy gala in aid of Backpack Buddies, a local charity which aims to tackle child poverty in the area.

The gala, aptly named HULLarity, sees Lucy make a welcome return to Hull New Theatre on Thursday 6th June aided and abetted by a host of top stand-up comedians includin Justin Moorhouse, Rob Rouse, Micky P.Kerr, The Kagools and Adam Hudson, presided over by host Jon Richardson.

The event, which has been organised by Lucy herself, will raise vital funds for her own charity Backpack Buddies, which aims to tackle food poverty and holiday hunger.

There are currently around 7,000 children in Hull living in poverty and together, Fareshare Hull, The Children's University and Backpack Buddies are helping schools incur the cost of creating a food pantry to offer insulated back packs for families to take food home for the weekend and holidays. In addition, the project is setting up fun summer sessions close to schools to make sure children still have access to food when that vital free school meal is not available.

Tickets for the HULLarity Gala at Hull New Theatre on 6 June 2019 are on sale now. Book at the Hull City Hall Box Office, call 01482 300 306 or visit www.hulltheatres.co.uk.
