Brendan Cole heads for Hull New Theatre

From a national treasure to world-class musicians and a ground-breaking concept album, Hull Theatres announces a trio of unforgettable events for 2019.

In February, former Strictly Come Dancing pro and national treasure Brendan Cole returns to Hull New Theatre with his new production Showman.

From beautiful ballroom to high-energy Latin, it’s all here in this thrilling extravaganza with ahighly-skilled cast and dazzling choreography.

Brendan Cole waltzes his way into Hull on 2 February.

In March, a huge roster of world-class musicians including Shalamar, The Delfonics, Peabo Bryson, The Stylistics featuring Russell Tompkins Jnr, Regina Bell, Shanice, Fern Kinney and Daisy Dance take to the stage at Hull City Hall in Soulful Night to Remember.

Featuring all the hits such as; Ready or Not, Didn’t I Blow Your Mind, A Whole New World, Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You, Friends, I Can Make You Feel Good, Betcha by Golly Wow, You Are Everything, Together We Are Beautiful, I Love Your Smile and more, this celebration of soul is sure to be A Night to Remember.

A Soulful Night to Remember comes to Hull City Hall on 8 March 2019.

In May, the Hull City Hall stage will once again come alive with legendary music this time in a concert production of the ground-breaking concept album Quadrophenia.

Released in October 1973, The Who’s second rock opera Quadrophenia was Pete Townshend’s homage to a pivotal moment in British youth culture. The album tells the story of Jimmy, a Mod, by chronicling his dissatisfaction with life, work, love, home, and family life. It served as an ode to teenage angst and counterculture rebellion, as well as a criticism of the British class, economic and educational systems. You don't need to be clued up on the history of the Mods and Rockers to enjoy this show because at its core, Quadrophenia, which peaked at No. 2 on the UK and USA charts, is just about teenage confusion, conflict and frustration.

Backed with exciting, and sometimes heart-wrenching, large-screen projection of archival footage, the emotions, tension and raw power that the music demands is delivered masterfully in this live concert production by the fabulous, The Goldhawks, with amazing replication of The Who’s sound.

Quadrophenia - The Album Live plays Hull City Hall on 2 May 2019.

Tickets for all these shows will be available from 10am on Friday 12 October 2018. Book at the Hull City Hall Box Office, call 01482 300 306 or visit www.hulltheatres.co.uk.
