Badapple Brings WW1 Drama to the East Riding
A story of the Great War, as told from a female perspective, is coming to East Yorkshire as part of a national tour this autumn.
‘The Thankful Village’, by Yorkshire's Badapple Theatre, brings together an all-female cast to focus on those rare places which lost no men in the Great War because all those who left to serve came home again. There were just 53 places that could claim this honour after the end of the conflict. Set in Yorkshire, this poignant production gives an alternative perspective to the long years of 1914-1918, told through the eyes of three women from the same rural household - both below and above stairs - as they are left behind to cope after their men-folk march off to Flanders.
