Chocolate Cake and Open Day at Hull Truck

Hull Truck Theatre presents perfect days out for the whole family to enjoy.

Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake is a scrumptious adventure based on the award-winning author’s beloved poem of the same name. The former Children’s Laureate is a favourite of children and adults alike, delighting us with classics such as We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Little Rabbit Foo Foo.

This musical adaptation by Polka Theatre follows the tale of two brothers and the mysterious night-time disappearance of a tasty treat. Full of jolly songs and lots of silliness, it’s guaranteed to fill little ones with wonder and get them singing along. Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake fills Hull Truck Theatre’s main stage on Saturday 26 May (11am, 1:30pm and 4pm) and tickets are

£10 each.

Last year’s Hull Truck Theatre Family Open Day welcomed a staggering 1,400 people to experience a range of fantastic activities for all ages. This year’s edition is set to be even bigger and better, with storytelling sessions, face painting, behind the scenes tours, balloon modelling and much more.

The entire day is completely free of charge and no booking is required. Simply pop down and be inspired by a fun-packed environment, specially designed for unleashing creativity and discovering the world of theatre.

Taking place on Saturday 2 June from 10am till 4.30pm, the Hull Truck Theatre Family Open Day invites you to explore the stage and experience an actor’s view of The Heron auditorium, have a go at sound and lighting demonstrations with experienced technicians, learn how to make balloon animals, try on costumes in the photo booth and get messy at the craft table. Perfect for children (and adults) of all ages, it’s set to be a vibrant day for all.

Magda Moses, Community Project Co-ordinator at Hull Truck Theatre, says:

"Our free Family Open Day is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to spend quality time together. They can all get creative with the arts and crafts, express themselves and unleash their imaginations. It’s also a great chance for families to come and see what happens at Hull Truck Theatre during the whole year – not just our productions, but also our fantastic Youth Theatre, regular family activities and craft sessions. The full Hull Truck Theatre staff team will be on hand to help out and answer any questions you’ve got about what life is like at the theatre and how you can be part of it."
